Kamala Beach Town, away from the beach, has a lot to offer in terms of
restaurants. You need only walk along the main road - or the three
roads that lead down to the beach to find plenty of authentic Thai
restaurants as well as Western, Indian, and other types of cuisine.
For some reason Indian food always seems comparatively expensive - though
it may just be compared to the low coast of Thai food.
Just a few examples follow:
The Baan Rim Klong - on the main road - offers authentic Thai as well as
good Indian cuisine.

Oh La La and G'Day Mate - an Aussie Pub/Restaurant are near each
other in the middle of town along the main street
Just north of town a bit, on the turn-off to the Marriott Courtyard,
the Baan Mai has great
Thai food in a unique setting. Great food,
swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, and more.
