The
Bang Tao Fish Market
Along the beach road on the southern end of Bang Tao Bay
is the community of Bang Tao. Every morning you will find
a fish market of many small fish stands - where you can find
just about anything you want fresh out of the sea.
Bang Tao was originally a small Muslim fishing village,
as was Kamala. If you walk out to the beach in this same
area you can see the boats that brought in the catch. Walk
along the beach at sunrise and you are likely to catch the
Fisherwomen of Bang Tao
at
work.
Notice the two women in the photo below that are
completely covered [top right of the photo]. Generally
speaking, the very conservative Muslims will not like to have
their photo taken . I caught these ladies only by accident.

A small restaurant at the south end of this street, where
it crosses the canal and starts to curve around to Surin
Beach, specializes in Penang Fish - give them a try. You'll
love it. |
